Agent and launch errors
Diagnose a subshell that cannot launch its selected agent.
Missing program
Install the agent CLI on the target node under its execution account. A plugin installed on the control plane does not install that CLI on every node.
After installation, choose Nodes in the server dashboard's sidebar, select the execution machine, and open Overview. In the Harnesses card, select Re-check. Before changing an environment override, use Files and paths to identify the configuration and runtime environment on the execution machine. Check PATH and the harness-specific binary override when the service cannot find a program that works in an interactive shell.
Plugin or preset unavailable
Confirm that the instance's harness plugin is installed and enabled. Presets belong to their creator; a foreign preset cannot be assumed available to your launch.
MCP helper creation requires a real saved preset ID. A catalog-only harness row cannot be launched as a preset.
Directory refused
The working directory belongs to the selected node. Check that it exists and is permitted by the node's resolved allowlist.
Changing nodes in the human form clears machine-specific directory assumptions. An empty allowlist is unrestricted, not a reason to refuse every directory.
Process or prompt failure
Run the agent directly under the execution account to verify provider authentication. Starting a process does not prove an initial task was delivered; MCP create and restart return promptDelivered separately.
Use an owned pane's captured log to inspect its exit output. Do not repeatedly retry creation after a timeout without checking whether a session already exists.
