Notification troubleshooting

Diagnose missing browser or PWA notifications.

Check all gates

  1. Open the profile menu at the bottom of the server dashboard's sidebar and choose Preferences. In the Notifications section, confirm Subshell notifications is on.
  2. Choose Subshells in the sidebar and open the session's ⋯ menu. Mute notifications means its bell is on; Notify when done turns it on.
  3. Check browser or OS notification permission for this device.
  4. Return to Preferences → Notifications and check the device's notification state. Use Enable notifications on this device if it is not enabled.
  5. Verify that the harness produces the event you expect.

Sharing a subshell does not subscribe you to its notifications. Alerts go to its owner. Agent-created helpers start muted.

Browser support

Remote web push requires a suitable secure context. An HTTP LAN or mesh address may display the application while lacking notification support.

On iPhone and iPad, install the web app on the home screen and request permission from that installed web app. A regular browser tab is not equivalent.

Agent events

Terminal is a plain shell and does not report agent turn completion. Other harnesses differ in their attention-hook support. Waiting on active background work can also keep an agent from reporting completion.

Do not infer process death from the absence of a push. Inspect the subshell's activity and liveness.

Server delivery

Administrators can open Server Settings → Logs in the dashboard sidebar and inspect system output for delivery failures. Preserve the instance's web-push state when backing up or moving it, and do not publish private delivery credentials in reports.
