Subshell Docs

Users and roles

Manage the accounts admitted to your Subshell instance.

Before you start

Sign in as an administrator in the server dashboard. Account administration is not available through machine credentials.

Create and review accounts

  1. In the server dashboard's sidebar, open Server Settings → Users.
  2. Select Add user to open the account form.
  3. Review its role and status.
  4. Choose the Pending approval tab to review accounts awaiting approval.

Creating an account administratively does not require enabling public registration. Users' names, email addresses, roles, and disabled states are visible through the authenticated roster used by sharing pickers.

Roles

Members manage their own sessions and access shared resources. Administrators also operate instance settings and have edit access to sessions across the instance.

Administrative access does not transfer session ownership. Only the owner can delete a session, change its sharing, or control its notification bell.

Disable access

Disabling an account prevents normal session authentication. Review any long-lived integrations separately, rather than assuming a human sign-in action revokes every kind of machine credential.

Next steps

Configure Registration, Sign-in providers, and API keys.
