Create and edit prompts
Save instructions you want to give an agent again.
Before you start
Sign in to the server dashboard. Prompts belong to your account; you do not need an administrator role to create your own.
Create a prompt
- In the dashboard sidebar, open Prompts and choose your own entries rather than Shared with you.
- Select New → New prompt.
- Enter a short Description, such as
Review changes. - Enter the task in Prompt.
- Leave Share with everyone off unless you intend every signed-in account to read the text.
- Select Create prompt.
For example:
Review the uncommitted changes in this repository. Identify correctness
issues and missing tests. Report findings with file paths and line numbers.
Do not modify files. The entry appears in your library and in prompt pickers. Descriptions are limited to 120 characters and bodies to 20,000 characters; both must contain text.
Edit or clone
In Prompts, find one of your entries and open its ⋯ menu. Choose Edit, change the text, and select Save.
Choose Clone to create another prompt from one you own. The copy starts private; give it a description that distinguishes its purpose. Other users' shared prompts are readable, but you cannot edit their entries. To customize their instructions, copy the text into a new prompt of your own.
Editing a library prompt updates stacks that reference it. A preset or launch form that already copied its text keeps that copy. See Build prompt stacks.
